A Gift From a Chef was given to us by Chef Jim Rua of Cafe Capriccio in Albany, NY. It’s a thank you note about a meal that he gave a family for a Christmas Eve dinner during a Covid lockdown.

Dear Jim,

Please accept my apologies for my belated thank you note. I’ll blame Covid.

I’m Kevin O’Brien’s brother, Sean, a Franciscan priest from Sienna College. I want to express my sincere thanks for your delicious Christmas eve dinner. Upon arriving at Kevin’s and seeing the bountiful feast you provided I was speechless.

I felt like one of the shepherds who came to the manger that 1st Christmas – I was filled with awe.

Needless to say, three hours later we were still gathered around the table enjoying your spectacular meal. It was truly the highlight of the O’Brien Christmas – and I can’t thank you enough.

As the new year unfolds, I send good wishes and blessings to you and your loved ones. Hopefully, we will be free of the Covid Virus soon enough to return to personal gatherings. Of course, Cafe Capriccio will be on top of the list. Thanks again for your generous gift.

Peace and all good,
Fr. Sean E. O’Brien
